Neurotrauma Advanced Course on Skull Base and Penetrating Brain Trauma | 2nd NTSC Extended | AMN Intensives
A resounding success, the second edition of NTSC Extended | AMN Intensives has concluded, building upon the foundation of the 1st edition in Bangkok. The event emphasizes the importance of coordinated, multidisciplinary action in neurotrauma care.
Hosted at the prestigious Hanoi Medical University on November 4, the Neurotrauma Advanced Course on Skull Base and Penetrating Brain Trauma brought together a dedicated community of neurosurgeons, neurologists, intensivists, and rehabilitation specialists. It was designed to guide specialists through the entire ‘Chain of Recovery,’ from pre-hospital management and advanced surgical interventions to the principles of long-term neurorehabilitation. Through expert lectures, real-world case studies, and interactive case demonstrations, the participants were fully immersed in the complexities of neurotrauma care.
However, the impact of this event is best reflected in the feedback of those who attended. We are incredibly grateful to the medical professionals who joined us as faculty or as participants. We would like to share their words, which affirm the course’s value and set the path for future educational programs.
Participants’ Perspectives
NTSC Extended | AMN Intensives focuses on delivering high-quality, practical, and insightful information from world-class experts. This goal was reflected in the responses from attendees.
“The session was excellent, and the professors’ lectures were engaging and insightful.”
– Duong Trung Kien, MD, PhD (Head of Neurosurgery, Saint Paul Hospital)
“Thank you very much to the company and AMN! Today I learned a lot; the lectures delivered by the professors were both practical and inspiring.”
– Nguyen Van Tuan (Neurosurgery and Spine Department, Quang Ninh General Hospital)
The practical value is at the core of the curriculum, with each course designed to deliver applicable information and skills to participants at all levels of care.
“First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to the company for providing our hospital and the ICU–Stroke Center of Quang Ninh with an opportunity to learn and receive updated knowledge. Today’s program was truly meaningful and inspiring for me. Although I could not attend the entire session, I felt a strong source of motivation and a wealth of valuable knowledge shared with all participants. I sincerely hope to join future sessions led by leading Vietnamese and international professors, to stay updated and apply this knowledge in daily clinical work. Thank you once again, and I wish the organizing company continued success in creating more such meaningful learning opportunities.”
– Dang Van Hoi (Intensive Care Unit – Stroke Center, Quang Ninh General Hospital)
Multidisciplinary Approaches
AMN is centered around bringing multidisciplinary approaches to the forefront of neurotrauma education and care. By combining experts’ perspectives and experiences, it aims to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange at both the theoretical and practical levels.
“The program was practical and meaningful in fostering a multidisciplinary approach to TBI management.”
– Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Dung (Neurosurgery Department, 108 Central Military Hospital)
The AMN aims to combine the perspectives of local experts with the international standards of our global faculty. This fusion creates a uniquely relevant dialogue, ensuring that advanced neurotrauma training is both globally informed and locally applicable.
“The session was very good and interesting; we received many valuable updates and insights from both national and international experts.”
– Dr. Dong Van Phuc (Department of Neurosurgery, Thai Binh General Hospital)
Future Directions
As we value the input of participants and consider them a core part of developing future curricula, we were delighted to gather their views and perspectives on which subjects should receive more coverage.
The suggested topics spanned from the management of post-traumatic brain injury surgical complications, to functional neurosurgery (e.g., epilepsy surgery) after trauma, alongside deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s disease. Topics like optic nerve decompression or facial nerve decompression after trauma were also mentioned, with other participants underlining the need for insight into endoscopic surgery for cerebrospinal fluid leak repair and general new developments in neurosurgery.
“The course was very useful. For me, much of the content was already familiar, but it would be more suitable for doctors who have been practicing in the specialty for about 5–10 years […]. The quality of lectures by the local instructors was generally good. The duration was a bit short — more time should be dedicated to clinical case discussions and debates.”
– Dr. Nguyen Khac Hieu, MD, PhD – Department of Neurosurgery, 108 Military Central Hospital
Final Thoughts
This successful course marks another step in advancing the NTSC Extended | AMN Intensives initiative globally. By uniting distinguished local and international faculty with dedicated participants, these events are a trendsetter for neurotrauma education and foster a global collaborative community.
