The third edition of the Neurotrauma Treatment Simulation Center (NTSC) was held from June 17-20 in Vienna, Austria. This training course focuses on advancing global neurotrauma care through multidisciplinary collaboration among specialists involved in the pathway through the medical system of patients with neurotrauma. The NTSC offers participants the tools and insights needed to enhance neurotrauma care, from the pre-hospital phase to rehabilitation, ensuring better patient outcomes globally.
Dr. Makhamov Makhkamjon, Head of the Cerebrovascular Department at the Republican Research Center of Emergency Medicine in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, emphasized the importance of a multidisciplinary approach and discussed strategies for effectively implementing it within his institution. Dr. Makhkamjon views the NTSC as an inspiring model, expressing particular interest in how the pre-hospital, hospital, and rehabilitation phases are managed. He highlighted specific challenges his country faces in providing rehabilitation for severe brain trauma patients and emphasized the need for neurotrauma training courses in Uzbekistan to improve neurotrauma management. Dr. Makhamov also shared successful practices within his country and institution that have contributed to reduced mortality rates in neurotrauma cases. He described the essential components of an effective neurotrauma team and discussed challenges in team collaboration, particularly the importance of administrative staff understanding the intricacies of neurotrauma care to support cohesive, patient-centered outcomes.
