Interviewee: Victor Dabala, Neurology Resident, Clinical Emergency County Hospital Cluj-Napoca, Cluj-Napoca, Romania
Interviewer: Doria Constantinescu
We are pleased to share our feedback interview featuring Dr. Victor Dabala, a valued member of the Romanian delegation who participated in the inaugural Neurotrauma Treatment Simulation Center (NTSC) held in Vienna, Austria, from May 16 to May 20, 2022.
The NTSC is a pioneering hands-on initiative, spotlighting the significance of a multidisciplinary framework in neurotrauma care. Its overarching vision strives to reshape the treatment landscape by shifting the paradigm from short-term focus to comprehensive, long-term follow-up strategies.
Dr. Victor Dabala provided insights into his background as a neurology resident in Cluj-Napoca, offering details about his recent interest in neurotrauma. He expressed a profound enthusiasm for the NTSC program and the opportunity to share the knowledge he gained. When delving into the landscape of neurology management in Romania, he identified existing gaps and underscored the research and treatment deficiencies for neurotrauma patients. Of particular importance, he highlighted the oversight in recognizing cognitive and psychological challenges that often follow trauma. Dr. Victor Dabala also emphasized the absence of patient registries as a significant obstacle to effective patient tracking.
Expressing his perspective on this issue, Dr. Dabala advocated for the establishment of an international Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) registry, stressing the vital role of comprehensive data collection and referencing the PRESENT Registry as a notable example. He went on to elaborate on the less common practice of multidisciplinary approaches within Romanian medical circles. Our discussions extended to the topic of neurotrauma prevention, with a specific focus on the potential impact of public awareness campaigns.
